Mr. Gorbachev tore down the wall.

I guess it figures that it would take the Canadian press to poke a little hole in the cloud of Reagan nostalgia currently suffocating the news. Not to say that Mr. Reagan wasn’t an entertaining speaker and a nice old man, but the outpouring of affection is astounding. Do you remember this kind of hoopla the week after Nixon’s passing? Me either. Perhaps it’s unfair to compare Reagan, even at his gun-selling, Contra-financing nadir [or heyday, depending on your views], to the wiretap tactics [or antics, depending on your views] Nixon took in office, but Thomas Jefferson the man was not.

If I had big money — like, Soros money — I’d have this book reprinted and give all those thousands of people a copy, each. [If you can’t find the book through a library or to purchase — and it could be difficult, being out of print and all — check out this site for edited highlights.] Sure, he was the president once, but remember, it was during the eighties. The EIGHTIES. They didn’t call it “Reaganomics” because Jimmy Carter invented it.
